DISASTER SUPPLIES CHECKLIST:

Bible, devotional and prayer book, journal and pens.

Drinking water - 1 gallon per person per day for at least 3 days, preferably 2 weeks.

Non-perishable nutritious food items such as granola bars, raisins, peanut butter crackers, unsalted nuts, juice boxes, canned fruit and meat/tuna.

Powerful flashlight and extra batteries, candles, matches in waterproof container, safety flare and police whistle.

Weather radio; either one you can crank or battered operated and extra batteries.

First aid kit and manual including; antibiotic cream, non-aspirin pain reliever, Benadryl, burn ointment, eye wash, toilet tissue, antiseptic wipes, hand sanitizer, assorted Band-Aids, gauze pads, medical tape, scissors, tweezers.

Enough essential medications (insulin, nitroglycerin, heart meds, etc. ) to get you through at least 3 days and preferably 2 weeks.

Complete change of clothes for each person including long sleeve shirt, long pants, socks and sturdy shoes in large Ziploc/waterproof bag.

Toiletries:  soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, 1 washcloth and towel per person in large waterproof bag.

One lightweight blanket or survival blanket and dust mask per person.

Fire extinguisher.

Old eyeglasses, extra car keys and house/office keys.

Copies of your driver's license, social security card, insurance cards, will, other important family documents, a small amount of cash, and prescription medication numbers and dosages all in a waterproof container.

Mess kits:  (paper cups, plates and utensils), paper towels, plastic gloves, garbage bags and closure ties for bags.

List of phone numbers of people you will need to contact-family, friends, employer, insurance agent, doctor, credit card companies, etc.

If you have small children:  baby food, formula, diapers, books, toys and games.

Store all of these supplies in a sealable container such as a hard plastic tub or oversized Ziploc bag and place it in a basement or interior room in your home.  At the beginning of storm season each year, wash towels and clothing. 

Check expiration dates on foods and medications.  Replace anything that need to be freshened.
