Welcome to Zion UMC!

Love God, love neighbor.

It sounds like a nice little play on words like someone was sitting around one day and came up with a great saying for a church to put on its stationary. Honestly, it is. But it’s more than that.

It’s a way of life born from the idea that what Jesus taught was not just a lot of pretty words and poetic ideas, they were, and still are a Way of Life, a Way of Being, a Way to understand God and his Creation. We not only believe it, but we try to live it in our homes, our church, and our community. For us, this is a journey that we have chosen to take, following in the spiritual way of Jesus life and teachings.

And we invite you to join us.

In Grace and peace,

Pastor Michael

Current Concerns

As we deal with the expanding effects of the Coronavirus, we have come to a place where the safety of our people necessitates not having our weekly worship service. Following the advice of the CDC and our bishop, we will not be having church activities or worship services for the next two weeks (March 29 and April 5).

Whether we are in a building or not, we are still the church and we will still worship together though we are apart. To that end, I will be setting up a Facebook Live broadcast for the next two Sundays at 11:00am. You will be able to log in to Facebook and go to our page and watch the service and hear the music. I am suggesting that people gather together in homes with family members who have access to Facebook or in small groups (less than 8) with those who can help them to have access. As with the regular service, please, PLEASE stay home if you are sick, think you might be sick, or have any inkling that you might be sick. I would also suggest that as you gather, you take the rare opportunity to share a Sabbath meal together after the custom of the early church.

Be safe. Be family to one another. Be true disciples of Christ. #factsnotfear
